Lagavulin + Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Every year when we carve our first pumpkins we roast the seeds (I use sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, then toss with olive oil and roast at 425 until golden). While enjoying the super spicy and super addicting roasted pumpkin seeds we have a pour of Lagavulin (our favorite Scotch) and toast to the beginning of the season. It’s one of my most favorite moments of the whole year because it means that fall is officially starting. I cherish that moment when I cuddle up to Wiley with a good scotch in hand to watch the flickering pumpkins that the kids are so proud of. Absolute magic. And fun fact: some Costcos sells the bottle which is normally around $90 for $56! So we always head there to stock up.
New Pajamas
I have an obsession with pajamas and I love autumn so naturally fall pajamas are a real treat for me. I always gift myself a nice new set every season for my birthday in September. It’s so nice to slip into a fresh set of pajamas that I get to theme around the coming season – one of those little things in life that bring me such joy. For fall I look for dark florals, beautiful prints, or rich colors. I’m loving this set at the moment by In Bloom Intimates from Nordstrom (free shipping and only $58 for the set):
Chestnut Candle
Another tradition we have in our home is lighting my favorite fall candle (usually do this embarrassingly early, around end of August, to get me excited for September). I absolutely LOVE this Spiced Chestnut Candle. It’s the perfect way to get me excited for fall and is what we’ve had in our house every year for the past 10 years. Smells so lovely!
Fall Harvest Festival
The Fall Harvest Festival at Underwood Family Farms starts end of September so we always try to go the first weekend which usually lands on my birthday. It’s so much fun – we walk around with a giant wagon picking out pumpkins, going on hay rides, playing with farm animals, crafting, face painting… all the good stuff that they have at harvest festivals. It makes for a fun, festive day out that the kids LOVE. Pics below are from last year (such little munchkins they were!)
