Now that the kids take up so much of my time, I cherish every second I spend with my girls. We’ve been best friends for years and there is something about having “girl time” that seems to recharge my soul. While they are all SO different from each other they are also all such passionate, driven, funny, beautiful women. I always feel honored when in their presence and I know how lucky I am to be loved and supported by such amazing people.
Recently, my friend Ashley (artist and photographer @SeaofLoveLA) turned 31 and we celebrated with a birthday party.
But, not just any party of course, Ashley organized our first annual, ladies-only Clothing Swap and Potluck.
Armed with trash bags of clothes and all sorts of yummy dishes (except I brought delivery cheese pizza because toddlers are crazy) we gathered together for tarot card readings, cocktails, lunch, a photo booth, and eventually the clothing swap itself.
I’m shocked we haven’t done this before and also a little sad – all those years of cool clothes we could have traded! As I bid farewell to a half dozen sweaters, Zara heels, and a couple tops, I welcomed a new pair of neon yellow Steve Madden heels, an army green HM jacket, and a couple blouses into my closet.
Needless to say we had an amazing time and I’m already putting clothes away for the next one. Can’t wait for the next time I can recharge my Girl Power!
